Remote Volunteering/Internship Opportunities with CEmSoJ in Research and Advocacy or Communications

The Community Empowerment and Social Justice Foundation (CEmSoJ) is seeking exceptionally motivated and organized law students, graduate students, and undergraduate students for remote volunteering/internship opportunities with the organization to gain experience in research and advocacy or communications in relation to human rights and development issues of marginalized groups in Nepal.

Time commitment is flexible, though a minimum of 20 hours a week is required. Positions start roughly 7 July 2017, with a minimum commitment of 10 weeks. Volunteering/Internships are unpaid, however the CEmSoJ is happy to work with those accepted to seek course credit for their work.

About the CEmSoJ

The CEmSoJ is an apolitical, not for profit, non-governmental organization registered as an NGO in 2015 in Lalitpur under existing laws of Nepal. It works mainly for socio-economic empowerment and promotion of social justice and human rights of marginalized groups of Nepal, including indigenous peoples, Madhesi and Dalit minorities, rural people and urban poor – with particular focus on women, youth and persons with disabilities and children of those groups, towards a just and peaceful society. Responsibilities and Qualifications

Research and Advocacy Volunteer/Intern: The Research and Advocacy Volunteer/Intern supports the CEmSoJ’s advocacy activities, including through research and writing on human rights and development issues of marginalized groups in Nepal, preparation of case studies, attending and reporting on meetings and events, providing support to the CEmSoJ Executive Committee, and providing some administrative support. Successful applicants generally possess excellent research and writing skills, are detail-oriented and very organized, and have a strong interest in human rights and/or development.

Communications Volunteer/Intern: The Communications Volunteer/Intern supports the communication works of the CEmSoJ. This includes conducting outreach through traditional and social media, development of blog posts and website content, documentation of events, and production of materials. The ideal candidate is creative, detail oriented, and has experience in communications or design.

Language skills in Nepali and/or English are required. The CEmSoJ actively seeks applicants with diverse backgrounds.
